About

Joseph, Daniel and Richard met in 2016 working at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in New York working for Chef Dan Barber. Ever since becoming colleagues and close friends, they had a shared vision of owning and operating their own restaurant.

Higher Ground was first established as a pop-up restaurant concept at the start of 2020 in Manchester city centre. Whilst running a series of pop-up restaurant residencies at a variety of different venues over the course of the year, we built Cinderwood Market Garden in Cheshire; a one and a half acre organic market garden that grows vegetables for many of Manchester’s well-known restaurants and bakeries. Flawd, our neighbourhood wine bar and bottle shop in Ancoats followed shortly after in 2021.

Our team have worked in some of the world’s best Michelin-starred restaurants such as noma, Relæ and Blue Hill at Stone Barns which have influenced our ethos and approach to both food and service.

We hope to bring the same level of hospitality to Manchester and look forward to welcoming you soon!
